CURRICULUM VITAE

He was born in Athens in 1977. He started learning the piano at the age of six. In 1998 he entered the Athens Conservatoire, where he studied with Aris Garoufalis. He graduated in 1996 winning the First Prize of the Conservatoire unanimously and a special distinction for his musicality and virtuosity. From 1995 until 1998 he studied the organ in Athens with the distinguished British organist Nicolas Kynaston as a scholar of the "Friends of Music" Society. In the summer of 1996 he represented Greece in the Oundle International Organ Festival.

From September 1998 he entered the Royal College of Music (London) as a postgraduate piano student and studied for two years with the famous pianist Peter Katin with scholarships from the Onassis Foundation and the Gina Bachauer Foundation. He continued his studies with Fali Pavri in the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Glasgow), graduating in 2001 with the Master's Degree (MMus) and distinction. He has also attended masterclasses with A. Jenner, B. Roberts, M. Tirimo, D. Merlet and D. Alexeev.

He has won prizes in many piano competitions in Greece (Athens Steinway competition, Thessaloniki "Thymis" competition etc). He has also won the first prize in the International Concerto Competition organized by the Croydon Festival (England, 1999) and the first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition in Chieri (Italy, 2004) with his Trio for violin, clarinet and piano (Trio "Sedna"). In the 2nd "Isidor Bajic" piano competition (Novi Sad, 2004) he was awarded the special prize "21st Century" for his performance of A. Tzanou's "Neige". In 2006 he was awarded the prestigious "Mykoniou" Prize from the Academy of Athens.

He has performed as a pianist and organist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Athens State Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the Athens Symphony Orchestra, the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera and the Athens Conservatoire Orchestra. He has given piano recitals in many major concert halls in Greece, Germany, Great Britain and Cyprus (Athens "Megaron" Concert Hall, Fairfield Hall, St.Martin-in-the-Fields, Ruglander Wasserschloss etc) and has also performed for Greek Radio. He is also an active chamber music player and has worked with many distinguished Greek performers and groups. He is currently teaching at the Athens Conservatoire.
